For those of you who haven't seen pics yet of my new home, here is a link to the listing. I will post additional pics as I fix it up and decorate.

It’s beautiful Barbie. However, I can’t believe you removed the plantation shutters in favor of blinds. I have white plantation shutters throughout my home and love them. I don’t feel they reduce the light inside and even if they did, they can be opened. Plus they’re much easier to dust than blinds. I hope you think about going ahead with the blinds. The shutters really make your new home look beautiful. In my area, plantation shutters are really considered the high end of window treatments. Sorry, this is all just my opinion. I know everyone has their likes and dislikes so I’m sure whatever you decide you'll be happy. Congratulations on your new, beautiful home.

Sandi, I said pretty much the same thing on yesterday's Morning Coffee post, but am posting it here again to chime in about the value (in so many ways) of plantation shutters.

Barbie, I'm sorry you felt that you wouldn't get enough light with the plantation shutters. Those are terribly expensive, and from the pictures of your house on Zillow, they really added a nice ambiance to the coach. We took out blinds in our house and had plantation shutters installed because they offered all sorts of benefits -- added value to the house, more protection from the sun and heat, and they allowed more light in when opened. Conversely, we can close them up and they give us much more privacy and darkness in the bedroom. True, we can't open each panel up with furniture in front of them, but with only a couple of inches between our couch and the shutters, we can angle the shutters so that they're providing a tremendous amount of light.
And next summer when the temps hit triple digits your AC (if you have it) is going to be working overtime to keep that coach cool. The shutters would have helped.

I will keep the shutters in the shed if/when I sell this. I do not have AC in here so I need to be able to open the windows to keep it cooler. There are large awnings over those windows to keep the sun out anyways. I can always put the shutters back on later if I change my mind.

Good idea to keep them, Barbie, just in case.

it was showing as a pending sale when she posted it. Now that it's closed the realtor probably took it down.
