Tillicum Beach Campground - June 20-July 3, 2019

If you have never been to this campground, you are missing one of my favorite places. It is a USDA facility with some sites with electric and water and some not, located just north of Yachats, Oregon. The big thing with this place is that some of the sites are directly overlooking the ocean, and the rest are just a couple of hundred feet away from access. This is very different from most of the state parks in Oregon where they are at least a thousand or more feet away from the ocean with no sites having a direct view. While this campground is not the best for very big rigs, it has a few fantastic ocean-side tent and small RV sites. Unfortunately, all the sites on the ocean side of the road are no hookup sites, but there are still nice sites on the other side of the roadway, which do have a small view. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/siuslaw ... ecid=42443

Positives:
- Incredibly good price for ocean views, even if small views, with senior pass.
- A lot of walk-in sites, but of course those do fill quickly.
- Flush toilets
- Can make reservations on recreation.gov or walk-in. Electric/water sites are $20 and non-electric are $13 for seniors. Non-senior rates are $33 for electric/water and $26 for non-hookup.
- Gorgeous beach, and just north of the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve, which has beautiful views along this part of the coast. Very nice visitor center and one viewpoint high above the ocean.
- Very nice town of Yachats about two miles south of campground. Shops and small restaurants, and a state park area in town where you can explore several tide pools. Also weekend market in town.

Negatives:
- No showers and no dump station. Need to drive about 4 miles to Waldport and pay $10 to dump your tanks.
- Many of the sites are in thick trees and not completely level. Smaller RVs fit best here, although there are some for bigger rigs.
- Very popular, especially during summer, so reservations are best.
- Like the rest of the coast, it is usually chilly here, often foggy, as well.

So, if you are looking for a really nice place to spend a few days on the ocean, join me in June/July. Check out my several postings from last August here: https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogI ... 8029000483

I would be there if not working this summer. Enjoy. (I think your non-hook up rate is before the discount.)
