CANCELLED- See Note-Feb 2016 AZ GTG - Usery Mountain, 2/13

UPDATE NOTE - Since no one has confirmed that they are really interested in coming, I am going to cancel this. However, if anyone would like to stop by or go out to lunch or dinner, send me a private note.

I am going to spend over two weeks in the Phoenix area in February and have two options for a GTG:

#1 Usery Mountain Regional Park (Feb 12- 15) - We were here last year. This is a lovely Sonoran desert campground with very spread out electric and water only sites. It is just north of Mesa, which is west of Phoenix. Unfortunately, I putted around in Canada too long and there are some, but not a lot of spaces available.

#2 White Tank Mountain Regional Park (Feb 19- 22) - This is a less popular, but no less scenic park west of Phoenix. It also is a lovely Sonoran desert campground with very spread out electric and water only sites. There are many more sites available here, as of today. It is also more likely to get a last-minute space here.

I suggest you pick which one you'll be at - or if you'll be at both, have 2!

Unfortunately, since I took the job in California I won't be able to attend ... but will vicariously from the posts here.

when I plant the 5th wheel in the BLM land in Q it stays there so if I was able to come over it would be for a day
so which ever you all choose would be good to go....typically it would be on a Sat or weekday that I would come like a Friday
Sundays are busy with church ect
hope to get to see you

Personally, I prefer Usery park, there are lakes and a river not too far from that area

Either one is fine with me, but I will have to wait until closer to know when I might be in that area, so would be making a late reservation.

UPDATE: Since everyone's schedules are so iffy at this point, I will plan on welcoming anyone who is able to stop by for lunch or dinner on Saturday, Feb 13 at Usery Mountain Regional Park.

If anyone wants to stop by informally at another time, just let me know.

I will endeavor to be there ...without looking at the calendar to see when it is I can't say positively
but will try....I am in a church choir in Q and we usually have a program in that time period if we do
then I can't miss a practice which would be at 9 on Sat...it's a two hour plus drive so when I know more will let you
know

Liz, another campground around the corner is Lost Dutchman State park, Sandi and I drove in there and checked it out, I was impressed with it.

I will see how far it is for a day trip from Benson. I will be up that way a little later though.

On edit...farther than I'd want to do on a day trip, so will miss this one.

I just watch History Channel yesterday about the Lost Dutchman gold mine or his stash of gold if I was out there I would go to that campground sounds like a lot of fun the whole way around...
