Updated March 21, 2014

I am hosting a beach get together at Hunting Island State Park in South Carolina for 14 nights from
Monday October 20th, 2014 through Monday November 3, 2014.

It will be my second visit in 2014 to this awesome place. I've been there more times than I can count. It gets busy in a hurry, so if you are interested, go LOOK at the reservation map now before it's all full. Come for 2 or more nights! It's about $27 a night plus tax. AN INCREDIBLE BARGAIN for being on the beach!

http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/huntingisland/introduction.aspx

I will be there 14 nights on a huge site, I am happy to host pot lucks and get togethers. If you can be there during any or all of this time, let me know. My reservation is already paid in full, because I am hopelessly in love with this very special island. There is nothing like it on the entire east coast. It is also bicycle and dog friendly. YES, you can walk your doggy up and down the beach. My pooch just LOVES it there. I love riding my bike on the beach too, my doggy rides in a basket up front, then we get out and play.

It doesn't matter which site you get, they are all in close walking to the gorgeous beach. There is a small camp store, but bring your groceries as otherwise all restaurants are off island. Fresh seafood fresh off the boat is sold about a mile off island and the grocery store is about 10 miles away. I tend to arrive with a full pantry ready to soak up island life in the jungle and on the beach. The fresh SHRIMP is awesome!

Hunting Island is a place near and dear to me. It has 8 miles of unspoiled beach, just sand, driftwood and a lighthouse. Cars can not drive on beach but bicycles can.

If you love fresh shrimp and seafood, this will be pure heaven. This place is for nature lovers and I am definitely in love with this island. :D :D :D :D :D

I've written and posted a good bit about Hunting Island on my blog at this link:

I am afraid this is going to get buried, but I posted it early so that folks could plan and make reservations. I was thinking we could have a huge shrimp fest. I edited the title to indicate the location to make it easier. Come for 2 or more nights!

Miss Mermaid, got my site. Will email info. Thanks for setting this up. Have spoken to two others who are arranging their schedules. DS may be able to make a few days, depending on work at that time of the year. Really appreciate that I can see the sites online and lock in my site at this park.

So glad we have one reservation already (plus mine!) Whether the GTG is small or large, it doesn't matter to me.

I am hoping we can do a potluck once a day, but I wasn't planning a big busy schedule because I am at the beach and on the island every day soaking up nature and walking my doggy or riding my bike. Dogs are allowed at the beach here.

If anyone is interested, the reservations are booking fast. It's a super popular spot for folks that love nature and the beach. Alternatively there is plenty to do in the surrounding area for those that enjoy sightseeing in Beaufort, SC. The park rangers also offer up some activities.

Scenes in the movie "Forrest Gump" was filmed on this island and the surrounding area including the Vietname scenes were filmed here in the marsh.

I have changed my reservation to 4 weeks now on 2 different sites.

Currently as I write this, I am at Hunting Island posting some pics on my blog every day. It's heaven on earth here, at least for me.

Anyone who enjoys beach camping in the fall should check out this state park. There are lots of camp sites available, including quite a few pull-through sites. Imagine camping surround by oaks, pines and palm trees. No matter which site you reserve, the beach is only a short walk away. I loved this campground last March and can't wait to visit again in the fall.

So far we have THREE bookings. We are planning potluck happy hour and dinner at my campsite each afternoon.

If anyone else is coming... better check the reservations NOW before they are all gone.

Email me for complete details.

Donna,

Not sure if you got my PM a few weeks ago. Lost my cell and had to get another one so I missing all the phone numbers and email addresses that were in my cell. The replacement cell has the same # as the old one.

I'm going to be there during that time as part of a T@B beach caravan :) I hope to meet some of you. Our group of T@Bs (plus a couple of former T@bbers turned Airstreamers) will be pulling in on October 26 and pull out on the 30th headed for Jekyll Island. We begin in Myrtle Beach, spend 3 nights in James Island County Park, before heading to Hunting Island. I camped at Hunting Island in April of 2012 and vowed to return! Loved it!

Flickr has changed things and I can't figure out how to upload a photo into a message anymore. Here is a link to my Hunting Island album.

Crystal,

So glad you will be there. I enjoyed visiting Hunting Island last March and am really looking forward to visiting again. It is so nice to camp near the beach with so many trees. I sent a PM with the dates I'll be there and my site #.

Where do you stay on Jekyll Island? I usually stop at WalkAbout, in Woodbine, GA, on the way up and back. It's just north of Jacksonville.
