UPDATE:
Since time is approaching when we can book sites, I've decided to take out the question about where & decided that Canning Creek will be fine. (you can book sites 6 months prior to your reservation)

Where & when: Canning Creek campgound at Council Grove KS starting Friday, Sept 19 - Monday, Sept 22. This is 2 hours SW of Kansas City. (Sites 37-48 would be my recommendation) - With a senior pass, it's only $10 for full hookups & $9 for elec & water. Here's a link to reserveamerica for reservations:
http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/map_of_Canning_Creek/r/campgroundMap.do?page=map&search=site&contractCode=NRSO&parkId=73112&topTabIndex=CampingSpot

Here's a pic of a site I had in late Sept. at Canning Creek - This is site 41.

Historical Council Grove town is just a few minutes away. And Kansas City, known as the city of fountains, with the Country Club Plaza, the Nelson-Adkins Museum of Art, & of course many, many great barbeque places - is only 2 1/2 hours away.

Here are some links & info you might be interested in:
Link to Council Grove website - http://councilgrove.com/
For those of you who might not be camping, housing options are listed under ‘Visitor information‘ The lake/campground is about 5 miles out of town. I can’t make any recommendations on which to stay at right now, but I’ll make it a point to stop in to check a couple out in the springtime (May or June) & let you know more.

Council grove is also about 40 miles south of Manhattan KS - where the Flint Hills Discovery Center is - website is:http://www.flinthillsdiscovery.org/

17 miles south of Council Grove is the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve - website:
http://www.nps.gov/tapr/index.htm

Here’s info from the corp of engineers on the lake we’ll be staying at:
http://www.swt.usace.army.mil/Locations/TulsaDistrictLakes/Kansas/CouncilGroveLake/CouncilGroveLakeRecreation.aspx

If you post (or pm me) when you make your reservation, I'll keep this first post updated so we know where we can find each other.

So looking forward to meeting more of my sistas. :D

Soon as I know where I'll be working and the dates, I'll check this thread to see if I can do this. Would love to come there.

Can I have that site?? Love it! 2 1/2 hours to KC to the casino? Kind of far, but doable! LOL!

Only if there's another one like it! It'd work perfect for Ronnie's wheelchair lift, just sayin'. It's a possibility for us, too.

Otherwise, YES, an "east meets west" GTG in late Sept!!! Think of all the peoples on opposite coasts that can finally meet up!!! :D :D :D Count me in for both! AND I LOVE the cg you suggested!

I have to be in North Dakota on September 28 so for my 2 cents would prefer it be before that so I could at least be there for part of the GTG.

A lone voice crying out from her classroom ...

Sure wish some things could happen during the summer in places that weren't over 100* or packed with out-of-state tourists. I'll be breaking in a new crop of sixth graders next September. Wish I could join you all. Guess my only hope for meeting you all is for folks to make a little detour through the L.A. area when they're headed to parts south. :(

Wish I could do this, but may be coming through that area back toward California in late May/early June. Don't think I can go back in Sept.

If you're coming it's yours if I have to lay down in the middle of it to keep folks out! Or just tie Chewy up in the driveway, that would stop 'em!!

Just make sure Mitch is already parked somewhere else, she's so mean, she'd drive over you or Chewy!
