2016 McIntosh Area GTG

Let's get together!

2016 McIntosh Area GTG

Postby BirdbyBird » Fri Feb 05, 2016 9:20 am

Thought I should start a thread for this rather informal GTG of those of use staying in the McIntosh Area. Brenda, Sarah and I are parked at Sportsman Cove in McIntosh itself but Irmi and Steve are just right up the highway and Nan is just another 15-20 minutes farther. I don't have any pictures to post but Sarah probably does. We did make her promise not to photograph the climbing into or out off kayaks the other day but most other activities are open season.

We all meet up for lunch yesterday and plans are in the work to keep us from getting bored.

We are heading off to the Ocala RV Show today and off to visit the Gypsy Vanner Horse Farm tomorrow. More on our adventures to be posted in the future. Brenda and I are panning to stay around until the middle of the month. I think Sarah is heading farther south this weekend to visit a couple of other folks before landing at Hardees Lake.

We made it thru the RV show today with all finances still in place. They did not have either of the two rigs I want to see nor did they have one that caught Brenda's eye. We will keep looking.

We also made it to "Terry's Sports Bar" yesterday late afternoon and unfortunately Brenda and I forgot and ate the whole sandwich at one sitting. The sandwiches are huge and delicious. The restaurant makes al its own bread and rolls. For those of us that avoid bread on a regular basis, the temptation was just too much! :? :)

On to the visit the farm of the Gypsy Vanner Horses. Hopefully a few pictures to follow.

ps: Today is Brenda's birthday. :D

I absolutely adore Gypsy Vanner horses!! I really wanted to go to that farm when I was down there two years ago but it was raining and we did something else, which I regret. They are just gorgeous horses! Hope you take lots of pics!

Here is a pic of a GV horse: They kind of look like Clydesdales but smaller.

Have fun with all your other activities!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Here is are the pictures of at least some of the recent adventures. Left out were a couple of restaurant stops, most recently yesterday when Sarah, Nan and I helped Brenda celebrate her birthday at the Blue Gator. Grouper was a popular choice, just saying. :) Sarah, Brenda and I earlier in the week had visited Terry's Sports Bar known for their delicious huge sandwiches all presented in their homemade rolls and breads. The sandwiches this year were disappointing over all but the bread was still delicious. :? unfortunately, because we sort of meant not to eat it....

Tina did such an excellent job of covering our visit to the Gypsy Gold farm that I have only two non horse photos to add of things that also caught my attention.
First was the back door entrance to the office

and I thought the furniture was a bit unusual for an office

Brenda and I have had a few more adventures and meals out. We both head off tomorrow, she to Hardees lake and me to Lori and Doc's campground near Darien, Georgia.

So glad to see that you and Brenda got another kayak trip in before having to head north. Looking forward to Brenda's arrival at HL tomorrow.

Safe travels, and I hope it's not too long before the Ohio waters are fit for paddling.
