Icon Do-hickies

Okay, I know I'm a dufus, but these round do-hickies next to the topics, how do I know what they are tryin to tell me. Is there a Legend anywhere, they seem to be either red or black at times and sometimes moving, does that mean new posts? And what about the pencil tip, what does that mean? As I started typing this I saw at the top there are topic icons that go on those round do-hickies but as I pass my curser over them it doesn't show what they mean, like the smiley faces do. Enlighten me! I'm ready to learn

the round do hickies, if they are black that means you have read it, red means you
haven't and when its scrolly it means its a hot topic. If you've made a post in that
topic it will put a little red star on it,
I'll get back to you about the pencil thing, I'm having a brain fart

ok, the pencil thingies, actually I thought they were a little page with an arrow but
it sorta does look like a pencil tip, if you click on that it will take you to where you
left off the last time you read into that post, like the one on the far right (little box
with arrow) goes to last posted post in that topic. Hope that helps.

Thanks Ava, that does help me a lot and I guess those little pencil tips are page corners, lol, guess I need to brighten my screen and clean my glasses!
