when I was getting to leave yesterday I tried to put the steps in and couldn't
think either my son in law or grandson did then went to pull them out to do something
I'd forgotten and again couldn't
when I got here the guy that led me to my spot pulled them out
and he had a rough time...
so wondering what to lube them with SIL said they put a lot of wd40 on it in the spring
(I hadn't heard that there were problems with it) I won't have the help that I've had so far
so they do need to be taken care of

WD40 has a lot of solvents and evaporates. Probably need a longer lasting lubricant. Not sure what as my TV doesn't have movable steps. Hubby says you can use WD40 but use more frequently like monthly.

White lithium grease is a good lubricant for moving parts that are exposed to dirt and grime.

I was gonna say white lithium grease, but Laura beat me too it.
Purchase any auto parts or walmart

And use the white lithium grease on slides, too.

For SCHWINTEK slide systems (I have no knowledge of the other type(s)) - you are NOT ever supposed to use anything but teflon lubricant (PTFE is another name for Teflon). Grease is bad - very bad - in that it attracts and holds on to dirt...(I got the very same advice on the sliding screen doors on my garage - ONLY PTFE lubricant)

before using will check and see I don't even know the name of my slides but right now my concern is the steps

Mitch, there's a reference to a specific lubricant for the Schwintek slides and I don't remember what it is. I bought what they mention in the video from Amazon and then had our repair shop do the lube job, as I can't reach the top slide track without a ladder. I imagine that this lubricant would be good on other things, too. We used white lithium grease on our trailer's slide tracks because they were under the rig. We also used it on our stabilizers as well because they got so dirty.

While WD-40 is good for lots of stuff, out here in the dusty Southwest it's just not the best, especially for things exposed to the elements.

thanks did use the white Lithium grease on the steps worked well
they now can be put up and down by me
