New Idea for Posting Pictures & Avoiding Photobucket

New Idea for Posting Pictures & Avoiding Photobucket

I came up with a new way to avoid Photobucket (which I have begun to strongly dislike, as many of you do)...

If you have a Facebook account, upload your pic(s) there, but set the audience to ONLY ME.
That way, you are the only one who can see it.
If you scroll on your own timeline, you'll see it there, but no one else can.

Click on the pic and when it opens to its bigger version, right click and then click on COPY IMAGE ADDRESS.

VOILA! You can now easily post the picture here on he Forum using the IMG codes above.

Don't forget, though - for future Facebook posts, you'll have to set your audience back to how it was originally, or NONE of your posts will be seen by anyone.

And that has strained my brain for the day.

If it is a picture that you don't mind posting on both the forum and Facebook, do you still need to change the settings on your timeline page back and forth?

Tina, I was going to check your question, but can't right click on my phone. I thought I found a go around, but was incorrect. In all the time wasted I could have shared the photo with photobucket, copied the link and pasted on the forum. I'll need to check from my computer, but since most of my forum time is from my phone, no clue when that will be.

I couldn't get it to work with my iPad, and when I tried with my laptop it cut a landscape-oriented picture off, making it portrait.

Any suggestions, Mitch?

You do not have to change the audience settings if you don't care that all your FB friends see it.

For instance, recently, I've been needing to show some people WAY smarter than I am - a picture of the back of my trailer's fridge guts.
FB people don't want to see that, so the pic audience is set to ONLY ME.

But if it's a picture of Abby, the entire would can see it, so keep my settings at "Friends"...

Let me go play around with it on my iPad.

I do NOT have the app; I use the web browser version of FB.
I'll see what I can do...(with the browser version only)

Which picture on your timeline did you try?
If you just right clicked on the picture, and clicked on COPY IMAGE ADDRESS, it shouldn't have changed it in any way.
I have never had what you described happen...

Okay, I just did it with the Safari web browser on my iPad. UGH - WAY more difficult and that's exactly the reason I bought myself a little notebook to travel with and use the iPad as a hot spot.

Anyway, go to a picture on FB that you want to publish over here.
Touch the picture and hold.
Release and two choices came up - "SAVE" and "COPY".

Tap "COPY". Come over to here and tap on the IMG code above. Then try like hell to get the cursor in between the two IMG codes. PITA!
Tap the screen and "PASTE" should come up.
Tap "PASTE". (see pic of my fridge above - I did that from the iPad).

The hardest part was getting the cursor in between the [ ].

This is the picture I was trying to do. I wanted to send it in a PM to Holly to show her part of the inside of my rig, and it cut off at Jed's behind. Don't know if it was because the area to type was smaller in the PM than it is here, but the whole picture's here. It's not a true landscape pic, though -- it's square.

Interesting!

I tend to post more pictures on FB, largely because the only reason I use Photobucket is to post pictures here. Using your method is definitely easier.

Thanks!

I'm at the dinette. We actually like it there, even though I was adamant about having a couch that was opposite the TV. The dinette seat provides a kind of footrest, and is really comfortable.

Jed gets to sit wherever he wants. He's an old man now, and whatever keeps him happy keeps us happy. ;)

It worked!!!! If you click on the space bar a few times when you first ciick on img it will open up the area to paste your link in. (of course I'm on my macbook, not my iPad)
Only problem I see is we can't easily resize them like we can on photo bucket. They come in pretty big.
Easy, peasy....

Laura, I had the same question - where's your spot on the sofa?

Thanks, Mitch

I just tried it on the FB app on my iPad. There's isn't a "copy address" option there. Just a "save photo" option.
