My new buddy, McKenzie!

Postby BarbaraRose » Wed Apr 25, 2018 4:51 pm

I picked up McKenzie (aka Bridget was the name she came with) this morning from a rescue in Menifee, CA. She is a 2 year old Peke-Pom and is adorable! She seems very well behaved so far, altho she really wants to play with Lola so I have her on a leash so she doesn't try to chase her. Emily is hiding somewhere. Will keep them separated for awhile until they get used to each other.

Any advice on food, treats, toys, etc, is much appreciated. Has been a long time since I've had a dog.

adorable
only advice I have on food is try and get American made food and hopefully what they use is also
American grown...same with treats...
Shadow does like his treats but he too didn't seem to know what to do with toys... nor did I  so
quit buying them...
find a groomer you will like
and enjoy your pup

She’s absolutely adorable Barbie! How much does she weigh? I’m sure she’ll get settled in soon and will learn to get along with the kitties. I love her new name. Congratulations to all!

She is about 12 pounds. After telling her "no kitty!" several times for chasing the cats, she is already just ignoring them now. Very smart dog!

I feed Fromm dry and add warm water along with some type of topping. Currently I crumble a couple of pieces of Stella and Chewy's Chicken Meal Mixers. I feed twice a day and be sure they have fresh water. Here is a link to reviews on all dog food. https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/

Has she been tested for heart worm and did they tell you if she is on a preventative or not. I use Sentinel which works well especially for fleas. I would also take her to a vet for a check up.

She is a cutie, enjoy!

Just reading about McKenzie! Love that name. She sure is a cutie. My only advice is just to give her lots of loving. Benji loves his booster seat. And, he has a harness he wears when sitting on it. You sure are making yourself a nice home there. Lyn
