Dog Toes Clippy Thing - cute

Postby avalen » Wed Feb 04, 2009 8:50 pm

Dog Toes Clippy Thing
Upstairs in momma's secret drawer
Is kept a monster thing of terror.
It bites and tries to eat our toes.
Why it does that no one knows.
We bark and fuss and wiggle and squirm,
But our dad and momma hold us firm.
This thing of horror makes a noise.
Although it's squeaky— it's not like toys.
It's a squeaky, snippy, clippy thing.
It has sharp teeth and a big strong spring.
Sometimes after it eats our feet,
We get something good to eat.
But one day when no one is home
And we are left here all alone,
We'll sneak it out and none will know
We sent it where the odd socks go!

My dogs could have written that. Just bought one of those Pedicure things - works great. My dogs don't object to it like the clippers. Does take longer but so much easier and no split nails.

Great poem!! Mine could have written it too. I use a dremel now & once they get used to the noise, they don't mind it near as much.

Love it- sounds just like something the dogs would write.

I used to have one of those monsters until I started showing my dog and learned about dremels.

Molly is beginning to get more used to my new 'pediphile' I bought! (Pedipaws is the correct name for it, I believe!) My son, up until now, has been the only one who could get anywhere near Molly's toenails, and they grow like crazy! Now I am trying to file them back at least once a week in the winter when the snow doesn't allow her to get them worn down at all. If I can catch her when she's sort of sleepy in her chair, I can do at least two paws before offering her a treat afterwards!

I'm glad to hear some people are getting use from those PediPaws type things. I didn't even try one after seeing a dog's reaction in the park to one. Was worse than the clippers LOL - Maybe some day I will again, although Peaches runs from things making noises - Tips hated anything that made noise - so I didn't try one with him when I first heard of them, either.

I have to take my pug in about every 3 wks for his nail trim. I think the yogurt he shares with me in the morning is making them grow so fast. :? When he gets trimmed I hold him and he does really well that way. I pay $5 every other visit.

Thanks Ava good poem.
And Almost There that sounds like a bargain deal you have going for nail clipping! My big dog is so easy and then I get to the little ones aaaauuugh takes me forever! I usually only do a couple of feet at a time, by then I'm dizzy. I have to get them into a sort of semi hammer lock their head grasped by my elbow and then try to clip.

Around here there are several words that are never said close together.....Radar and bath, Radar and toenails. Because if you do...Radar is hiding under the bed. Baths require someone keeping her occupied somewhere else in the house or outside while I fill the deep sink in the laundry room. Toe nail clips require two professional alligator wrestlers.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.
