Meet Aflo!

Postby eviebooboo » Tue May 17, 2016 5:29 am

Well, now that I (hope) I've got the image posting figured out, thought I'd introduce you to my rig, Aflo, my first RV. Her name is a bit odd, I know, but she has two sides: (1) Another Fabulous Life Opportunity and (2) Another Frustrating (or other f-word) Learning Opportunity.

She's a 1999 Coach House, with only 41K miles on her that I got for a steal ($12K). Clean, not too worn out, and most systems working. Or at least, in my ignorance, the ones I can figure out HOW to work, because, of course, no manual! I found a local RV service guy, who is coming out next week to take care of a few thing, like hot water and furnace, or at least show me how to get them working. In any case, before I stray too far from home I thought it money well spent to have her checked out thoroughly. I've made new curtains and am looking to recover the cold, ugly linoleum - she's just so, well, beige. More photos to come, I hope.

So far, one short checkout trip 2 hrs from home to Crabtree Falls Campground which is, as the owners claim, just a little south of Heaven! Some rain - good chance to test the awning - but then a beautiful sunny day, perfect for hiking up the falls.

Looks like a wonderful RV and wonderful opportunity for all kinds of possibilities. Good that you are having her checked out. Fixing and maintaining equipment in a timely manner saves money and injuries down the road.

It looks like you got a very good deal. I have a Coach House Platinum that I like a lot. If you are putting carpeting on the floor don't make it too permanent. Carpet and camping don't go together. My motorhome only has a small area of linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom area. In the winter I just put a small rug and when it gets too dirty I replace it. If I knew the linoleum continued under the carpet in the aisle I would take the carpet out of that area.

Love the name! Coach House is a good company. There will always be some issues to fix in an older unit, but sounds like you got a good deal.

Nice looking rig. You will have lots of fun!
Tip: make sure awning completely dry before putting away or if just going short distance home, roll out and let dry. Avoid mold!
