camping with wheels! (updated)

Postby BarbaraRose » Sat May 23, 2015 12:39 am

Finally gonna be off the ground and on wheels! I decided to buy RitaMC's little popup camper. It is a 94 Coleman Taos 8ft, with two full sized beds. It is in very good condition for an older camper.

I haven't picked it up yet but hopefully soon! I have already been shopping for stuff for it. I want to recover the dinette cushions and add some new curtains and valances, thinking of a teal color to brighten it up. Am going to put new tires on it too, just for peace of mind, since they are a little older.

It will be so nice to be able to store stuff in there in between trips, be comfortable inside if it is raining out, and be able to keep warm on cold nights with the furnace!

I got a new hitch on my Jeep last week. I had my brother test the electrical connection for lights from my Jeep and everything works except the tail lights. Will have to get that looked into later, so for now, won't be able to tow after dark.

Am excited to get it home and get it set up and organized and make it mine! Got a few things for it already but will have to take my maiden trip in a couple weeks to figure out what I still want/need for it. I will take pics of it after I get the new covers and curtains for it. Right now it has the typical Coleman red and green plaid material on the cushions and dark green curtains.

Congratulations! This sounds like the perfect fit. I redid the cushions and window treatments in mine last year to make it brighter and more "me" so know you will feel at home in it when you are done. carold

I am so happy that Barb bought the pop up. We bought the pop up at a time when we had little money and couldn't get much time off for vacations and had to stay close to home. We had tent camped and a weekend in pouring rain and a tent that started to leak convinced us to go just one step up..a small pop up with beds and dinette and heater. Usually went to state parks in our area and have many good memories of those camping trips. I don't get attached to inanimate objects (they serve their purpose and then it's time for them to go on to other owners) but I really wanted the Taos to have a good home and I can tell Barb is going to be that owner. I can't wait to see how she decorates it for a little more color and pizazz.
Happy camping Barb!

Oh Barbie I am so happy for you it is just perfect!!! I like the plaid cover on the seat but I know you want to decorate. Don't you need to pack the wheels or something since it has been sitting before you pull it?? I know you will have some wonderful adventures with it. Yea Rita for thinking of Barbie.
