Success With Mosquito Bite Device

Postby JudyJB » Mon Aug 21, 2023 8:03 pm

Several months ago, I ordered a couple of items from Amazon that were advertised as helping reduce the results of mosquito bites. And as some of you know, my CLL even in remission causes me to get huge mosquito bites, and the anti-itch creams have never helped me. So to prepare for this summer in Ohio and Michigan and next winter in Florida, I decided to try them. However, it has only been a few weeks of mosquitos so far this summer. And since I misplaced (aka forgot where I put it), I did not use the device that is supposed to suck the stuff out that the insect injected.

However, I have been rigorously using this device for about the last month, and it seems to work well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y3 ... UTF8&psc=1

What happens is that when you notice a bite from an insect, you put the tip of this device on it and hold one of two buttons down. One button causes 3 seconds and the other 6 seconds of intense heat directly on the bite. I've just been using the 3 second button, and it definitely stings quite a bit. I've been using it twice in a row the first time, and then a couple more times later in the same day, and on the next day or so. So far, it has reduced the swelling and redness and the bites have not grown to the large, infected ones I have had in the past.

I don't know if it really destroys the stuff the insect has injected or if it just causes a reaction in your body, but it seems to have worked with me so far. I did find a study published by the NIH that seems to support it being effective. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3257884/

Anyway, this winter in Florida will be the best test for me, but I thought some of you might want to know about my experiencesso far.

That sounds kind of painful but if it removed the itching, I guess it would be worth it. Glad it has worked well for you so far.

It does sting, but it's only for three seconds, and you can let go of the button earlier if it bothers you.

If they get big and inflamed, then that hurts also, so I am trying to keep things under control. We shall see long term. I was walking through a cemetery yesterday and should have worn my mesh headnet. Ended up with several bites on my face and arms, even though I had sprayed myself. And the Benadryl stuff never has really helped me.
