Tropical Storm Hilary (not that Hillary)

Hey there, Barbie. . .

Looks like you might be in for some rain later in the week (maybe Friday or Saturday) from tropical storm (probably soon to be hurricane) Hilary.

https://weather.com/safety/hurricane/news/2023-08-16-hurricane-hilary-remnant-soaking-california-desert-southwest

Rain possibly heavy at times. (!)

"Locally heavy rain and flash flooding will become an increasing threat in Southern California. Some areas may see rounds of heavy downpours that can dump half an inch to an inch of rain or more in an hour, leading to flooding of normally dry creeks and arroyos."

Some models are showing a slight chance of some rain reaching all the way in to my area of northern California, by early next week.

Batten down the hatches!! :o

Right now, 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, outside temp is 110*. Ugh.

I could definitely go for some rain, and cooler temps!

Yes, I saw that! Guess I won't be going up the mountain next week either. They are predicting rain in the mountains thru this next weekend and all next week.
We will probably get rain here on my end of the valley from this storm system. No big mountains to block it from coming up from the south. That is fine with me. We need it here too!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Yea for rain in California!!

I am in a campground near Hamilton, Ontario, and have been busy today making phone calls to the history museum for the county to make an appointment to visit and get genealogical help. Regular person is gone, but college intern will help me, and hopefully is good at finding info. I also called the organization that manages the public cemeteries in the county, and he has sent me some maps so I can find my gg-grandparents burial plots. So tomorrow is a long visit to the county library and historical museum, and probably one cemetery. Another one is having a funeral tomorrow so I will wait until Saturday for that one.

I also need to get a propane refill and pick up some peameal back bacon tomorrow.
