We have Mel's first date with chemo infusion next Tuesday the 3of October. So a new adventure begone. Not real happy the Dr indicated only has a 25% success rate but we gotta try since no therapy is proven for this rare cancer.

Mel and you will be in my prayers Velda. Hopefully he will tolerate the chemo well and its effects will be positive.

Will be thinking of you as I have been through these past months. All you can do is what you can do for as long as you can do it. Hope Mel's response adds to the research in a positive way!

Wishing you both a successful outcome, someone has to be that 25%, so I think it will be Mel.

Thinking of you, Velda, and sending up prayers.

My ex-husband battled leukemia for many years, until a new drug was developed (Gleevec) which, although not a cure, put him into (hopefully for him) permanent remission. This was several years ago that he started on Gleevec. At the time of his original diagnosis, they gave him three to five to live.

That was nearly 30 years ago.

I pray for the same for Mel.

Thanks everyone. The hardest part about this is it's so rare no one knows really what to do. What little cases out there aren't enough for a study and all say it's a slow growing non agressive cancer, which it's decidedly not been the case. I'm trying to remain hopeful.
