May the healing of body and spirit continue to be strong. Thinking of your daughter and her support system that they keep moving forward through to the new normals.....

Had a good day yesterday at the daughters. She needed a shower, and had to have her bandage changed. She was quite worried about how all this was going to happen. Three of us were there. A DIL, son and me. It all turned out quite nice. She can go from the wheelchair to the tub using a walker. A bench sits over the edge of the tub. After she was on the bench we got her undressed. Took off the old bandage with out hurting her (she was worried about that) washed her hair, her body, her leg and the wound. After she was dried and dressed, she went onto the couch and had her dressing reapplied by her son.

She felt wonderful after all that. I felt wonderful too as Laurie had been kinda depressed all day Saturday. If she is depressed, I am depressed.

Her little 3 yr old grandson is quite fascinated by the wound. We are being very positive around him.

Glad she's doing well, although I know its not an instant process. When I went to take care of my friend in Colorado that had her amputation she learned transfer herself from walker to tub seat and then as time went on she learned to bath herself. Handrails were put everywhere, tub, front door, back door, patio door. She really got tickled when she was able to step out the patio and sit in her garden. Her first leg she got was a spring type looking thing. She learned to walk a little up and down the street. When it was completely healed she got the leg looking leg. I feel she had a better attitude when she had the spring looking type. The family could never figure that out.

My daughter is doing very well except for the healing of her stump. That is going very slowly. She is now receiving Bariatric Treatments to assist the healing. She wants o get started on her prosthesis placement, but cannot do so until the healing is complete. lyn
