Come on in and say hello.

Hello from Central Florida

Postby Oma » Mon Aug 04, 2014 4:50 pm

Hi my name is Vicki and I have been lurking on your site for about a year now :D Last night I decided to book a spot at Silver Springs for the Oct GTG and thought I should join before we arrived
I live in central Florida in Highlands County. My husband (David) and I camp as often as possible and plan to full time after he retires next June. He is a middle school teacher and I work in the office of a great church youth camp. We both love to dutch oven cook and belong to a group called the Cracker Trail Chapter of the International Dutch Oven Society. I told my husband he could cook for the group while I visited. He was good with that!
We will arrive at Silver Springs on Friday, Oct. 24 in the evening but have to leave on Sunday Oct 26. We're on site 17. We have a Crossroads Patriot 5th wheel. I am so looking forward to meeting everyone.

Welcome, Vicki. Glad you finally joined and wonderful that you'll be at the gtg. I'll be out west still, so will be looking forward to all the pictures.

Welcome, Vicki! I look forward to meeting you and your DH in Florida. Before I retired and started full-timing, I was a teacher in Ocala. I still return there once a year for dr. Appts.

Hi Vicki,

Lots of forum members are in FL during the winter and a few are in central FL. You will have a great time at the Silver Springs GTG.

Didn't you post about visiting Ortona Lock? How did that go? Your DOG sounds fun. Do you camp with them as well as cook?

I also live in central FL and work in education. Hope to meet you soon!

Hi Linnan,

Good to know there are members close by :D I have been pm with CArol and hope to meet her soon. She's about 10 or 15 minutes up the road from me.

Our trip to Ortona South is on Labor Day weekend. Last weekend we were at Hardee Lakes County Park. These two parks are some of our favorites.

We do camp sometimes with the dutch oven group. We move the meetings around as we have members living all over central Florida. Some members are campers and some are not. Perhaps you'll come visit some time!

Hope this school year is a good one for you. Both my DH and one DS are teachers.

Hi Vicki,

I am getting set up in a home park for me in Weeki Wachee. I look forward to meeting you in October. I will be coming over for the days with my car, not my rig.

Hi Dawn, Donna and Nan,

Thanks for the welcome. This is a friendly group of people!

I hope I get to meet every at Silver Springs in Oct. Dawn you are welcome to visit with us for the day. I'll even bring an extra chair 8-).

Donna I have been following your posts about Melbourne and Whickam Park. Our fifth wheel is 34 ft so I think we' re too long to stay there. Is this correct? When on the east coast we stay on Merritt Island at Kars Park or in the past, Patrick AFB.

Nan, even though we're about 9 hrs from you, my family all live along the Mississippi coast so you never know when I'll be headed that way :D

Wishing everyone a safe journey as they travel
