Newbie Lesbian Vandweller from the East

Come on in and say hello.

Newbie Lesbian Vandweller from the East

Postby natureglo » Sat Mar 01, 2014 4:59 pm

Hello, everyone! I may be in the low percentile here, but, I hope vandwellers are welcome on here as well. I'm not on here specifically looking for a date, but, just wanted to be up front about who I am. And heck, if one comes my way, why not.

I started my southwest journey in Prescott, AZ back in May '13. I began traveling with a group, but, got antsy to be more independent and have found traveling solo suits me well. I'm loving living in my converted camper van! My "house" is paid off, I get great mpg, there's lots of public land to camp on for free on, and I can even teach online to make a living as the Internet towers are becoming as common as dirt, even in the back country. And, if this nature girl MUST go to the city, it's easy enough to park and "blend" in without hassle, though city camping is not my favorite. It's nice to be here and I look forward to exchanging resources.

Warmly,

Gloria

Welcome to the forum. It is great that you already have a way to supplement income while on the road. On line work opportunities do increase the portability of where you can park your wheels. Glad that you are enjoying your traveling adventures so far and hope that you get to wander around the site and the threads to get to know us even better. Jump in the conversations or start your own any time.....

Welcome to the forum, Gloria. These are a great bunch of people. Converted vans are interesting and I hope you can post some pictures of the interior ideas you have had. Traveling in something small ( particularly unnoticeable in parking lots for overnight stays) was an interest of mine. Do you find any limitations to that size? 8-Dell

Welcome from the left coast. We have a couple of van owners here..

Welcome Gloria,

I also work from my computer and am considering going fulltime (which is rather funny as my total rv experince consists or 3 days in a friend's A class in Quartzite in 2004!   ). It's great to hear that you can get the internet everywhere...do you have a special satelite etc., or how do you hook up? That's something I was planning on posting about shortly (I'm new as of this week too).

I hook up to the internet using the "hotspot" on my AT&T smart phone. It costs an extra $50 a month for the hotspot but if I have phone service, I have internet. I also use it at home exclusively since I don't have a house phone. I know Sprint also has hotspots since I used it when I was on Sprint.

Welcome to the forum, Gloria!

I think all sorts are welcome here. My "home away from home" is a converted GMC Savana cargo van (I did the conversion myself - took me a year to do - link to my van story is below.

I am on the left coast, near Sacramento.

Give a toot if you are ever in my area.

Would LOVE to see photos of your van!
