Laura Ingalls Wilder

I don’t know if any of you are fans of Laura Ingalls Wilder. I read all the books when I was younger and then after I bought the set for the boys to read I read them all again. Also watched the series on TV, but that was so fictionalized. But it was an excellent show for family viewing and there aren’t many of those anymore. Anyway this week when I was at the library I picked up the copy of “Pioneer Girl—The annotated autobiography” by Wilder. It was published by the South Dakota Historical Society several years ago and it was so popular that they had trouble keeping up with the printing demands. It has the complete writings of Wilder from which she used to compile her books. It is amazing that her books were also quite fictionalized. This book tells the nitty gritty of pioneer life that isn’t quite as nice as depicted in her children’s books. If anyone has been a Wilder fan and you haven’t read this, I highly recommend it.

I think that was the book I tried to order a year or so ago, and couldn't get it
Thanks for the reminder!
George and I never missed an episode...

ON EDIT: Pat, do you get hardcover? Never mind - I see you got a library copy.

Oh! I'll have to look for that. Loved the series when I was a kid.

Check abebooks.com They had used copies when I looked, but I decided to check the local library before I bought it.

I did check Abe's - between $25 and $50! I'll wait until paperback, or at least something more reasonably priced! Can't wait to read it.
