Baby quilt--finished pic

ok, the hardest part is put together........

Image

with the two borders, it should look like this. The monkey fabric will be the backside and that last border, (the dark brown)
will come over the backside and look like a blanket edge on the monkey side.

Image

daughter said her theme for the baby's room is monkeys and the color scheme is like a celery green and a turquoise type blue.
(typical az colors) She gave me specific instructions NO TYPICAL BOY BLUE! its too ordinary.
The green border is like a two inch border and the brown border is like a 4 inch.
Time for a break and then load some bobbins and cut the borders.

I agree, very pretty. sigh I used to sew all the time, made my own clothes in jr. high and high school, even ripping apart my favorite jeans and using them to make more just like them. Now I never sew anything...but I still laugh at Mitch's attempts!

ok, the top is done, time for a break, then I 'll get out the batting and make sure I have enough, and I'll need to cut the backing
down to size. I really need a bigger table for this next step so probably take it to work with me and lay it out on those big tables
we have down there.
Thank you, I'm happy with it although its not the colors I would pick out for myself but daughter gets what daughter wants :D

gonna make a afghan next for the baby, but I'm making it the way I want, all turquoise! the same color as the darkest turquoise in the quilt.
That means it will match. Took all the stuff to work today and laid out all three pieces, have enough batting with a couple inches to spare
and should have it all done by the end of the week and I can get started on the afghan. Don't know when the baby shower is so I have to
get crackin so I'll be ready. :D

Are you going to quilt it by machine? Do you do free form?

Be sure and post pics of the afghan too!

All of my quilts in the past were quilted by hand. I have a frame that holds the fabric in my lap. However, this one I am going to quilt on the machine.
I will follow the seam lines and the pattern will show up on the monkey side of the quilt. I will post pictures when I get it done. I expect to finish it
next weekend, cause I gotta get started on an afghan. :D

I have never had the patience to hand quilt. I used to do stitch in the ditch, but now use my embroidery machine with quilting designs. I love it! I can set the design to run on the embroidery machine, go back to my cutting table to do more piecing or to my sewing machine to stitch another block. In doing this, I have to Quilt As I Go.

Chuck made me a quilting frame years ago, but I don't hand sew fast enough. Can't wait to see your afghan too.
