The mod for the coffeepot

Its finally done Wood cut, stained and attached
Image
The new coffeepot wouldn't fit so I had to do
a bit of construction. Removed the old panel that
covered the space between the cabinets with the
wiring and access to get the old brackets off.
Paneled it in to create a nice storage atea and
added the shelf to bolt the coffeepot to. The
top shelf has a lip so I can put the coffeepot up
there during travel. Will also stash the coffee, filters
and sugar bowl.
This project really made me think so I guess my
brain is still good.

That is awesome! The stain is perfect, the wood looks original. You did a great job. Now go get on the road! Ooops wait a minute I see the weather on the Internet sezs stuff in the mountains north of you. After all it is still May. Remember 2012 when we were bound for AK, a late snow storm caught us in southern MT. Guess June is a good travel month! The first long trip makes you a bit wary. It isn't the driving, it is all the things you don't know and you know you don't know that makes you wary. But Alice you drove those little he and she devils for a long time. So there is nothing that you cannot think through. Now go get on the road.

I also was impressed with the stain match. It looks perfect, so what did it look like before?

I started with this
Image
The white brackets hanging down are from the old
coffeepot the previous owners got rid of, but he
couldn't figure out how to get the brackets off.

I removed the fabric covered paneling and
found empty space. There were also a few wires in
there and of course the screws to remove the brackets.

What a lot of previously wasted space you captured! Great job!

I was amazed how much that little space holds, I put the empty pot up there, the
coffee can, the filters, sugar bowl AND the toaster. it all fit just as snug as a bug.
The second shelf holds a couple rolls of paper towels. :D
