Lacassine Pool is a place we go when we just want to get out of the house and see critters. The lack of rain has the water level really low. We did get some pics of crittres to share with yall, but the large alligators were hiding out. Warning:  one pic is of a sneaky snake that was in the road. Don't want to scare anyone like that! Now I know a lot of you gals are birders so I will let you tell me the names of these. I would be like the older gentleman on "Crocodile Dundee", "Um, here you will see the Red Shoulder Padded Black Bird",

Nice pictures Vickie! gosh living in the south offers great opportunities to see "critters'! I'm looking forward to heading to east Texas next winter, and maybe even farther east!

Thanks Ava!

Diana, I had to go back and find what part of TX you winter in. Austin, is that right? Then you will def. have to come see the Piney Woods areas of Texas and LA and if you make it further south, we might have a chance to take you on a critter search, too

Got lots of nice critters....Great Egret, Great Blue Heron, boat-tailed grackles (juvies), Common Moorhen with babies, Red-winged black birds, black-necked stilt, white-faced ibis, anhinga or double crested-cormorant, alligators, 'black snake' (what's that?), either phoebe/kingbird/?? adult and juvies. Always have a lot of good birds over there. Need to have a GTG during the fall and go see your goodies.

Looks like you have a great place for kicking back.

GREAT pics, Vickie!

Nice variety of creatures where you are! I can't wait to get out of here (school) and start taking some pictures of summer creatures around here. I would love to get that automatic night-vision camera set up again, next to the trail to the brook....lot of footprints there. SOON!

Thanks for sharing those wonderful pictures!

Love the photos, Vicky. Well, maybe not the snake but then I'm not a big fan of snakes lately.
