Does anyone have experience, good or bad, with a video baby monitor?

Who's having a baby?
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I don't have any experience but it does sound as if a video system could give you a little peace of mind around the house.

I'm sure you have likely read everything on-line by now but just in case, here is one of several sites offering current reviews of monitors:

Good luck on finding one you like; it should offer some peace of mind.

daughter and her boyfriend had one for his grandpa. It was set up to keep an eye on him in bed cause he was known to get up and wander around, he had alzheimers and was very frail. The little tv screen was on the coffee table in the livingroom. Don't know what kind it was. He has since been put into a nursing home. Now I'm wondering what went with the baby monitor, will have to ask daughter when I see her tomorrow.

If you have close neighbors, they may be able to pick up the frequency on their electronics and hear everything you tell George.

So, I am guessing Mitch is safe on that count. But VIckie could place some electronic devices in an unmarked van out on the road and make secret recordings for blackmail purposes. See, another potential financial stream to help replace that grant money.... 8-) But they do say it is hard to get blood out of a turnip.... hummmm :? May have to come up with a different plan. :)

You may have done this anyway, but try contacting your local Alzheimers Association office. I had counseling in one of these for my mother's dementia. She was in assisted living, but they did pass out some brochures on electronic bracelets at one of the support group meetings. They can be used to track someone who wanders.

I think they would be able to advise you on the baby monitor and maybe some other devices, such as something that beeps when a door is opened.

I used a Uniden video monitor and transmitter. My sister purchased it from Sam's Club in Alabama. The transmitter could be carried around for up to 4 hours before having to plug it in. It can also stay plugged in at a location of your choice.. The video camera also plugs in to the electrical socket. It worked very well for my needs with my dad. You can hear what is going on in the room where the video monitor is located, but you can not speak to each other. It also had night vision for viewing in complete darkness.
