Second Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Second Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Feb 10, 2018 9:16 am

Good Morning everyone. Sitting here looking out my living room window at nothing going on. Just cloudy skies, but sun expected to break out for awhile. Meanwhile, the far southern part of the state iis being buried in snow. 9.2 inches in Detroit and still counting.

Beth, am glad to hear that Peaches has turned the corner and seems to be improving. Hopefully your kitle walking buddy will be able to walk more and farther as the meds wear off. Lyn, glad to hear your daughtervis making strides and seems to have a positive attitude. With the support from family, friends and the advances in medical technology, she will be up and about in time. Martha, I feel for you, having to deal with all the issues with Harold. Being a caregivervisn’t any easy task even with him being in the nursing home.

Enjoying the pictures from Hardee Lakes, another week to go for some of them. After that, the GTG tbread is looking a little empty except for a couple possible small ones. Getting to be that time of year. Y’all have a nice day.

Oh my goodness, just checked General talk and saw the accident post from Linda (Wanderer2) about being in an accident. So glad she wasn’t hurt but unfortunately her rig is, but driveable.

Sue, you saying second Saturday reminded me that there is usually a Dutch Oven Cookout at the local state park. I went to their Facebook page and it's been cancelled because of rain but they are having a Mardi Gras golf cart parade. Next year I'll have to attend and then I can't say I have never been to a Mardi Gras Parade. We have a 100% chance of rain today so I think there are going to be some wet parade goers if they don't cancel the parades.

It's so foggy this morning I can just barely see past the road out front. I usually leave about 10:00 so hope it lifts soon.

Good Morning Sue and Everyone!!!! It's overcast here also Sue, no snow on the ground but rain is moving in, supposed to rain all day tomorrow. Having a community yard sale here today, what a busy road out there. Think I'll leave my gate shut, hope it's an annual thing they do as I'm sure to have items to get rid of next year :D

So many sad things going on with some here!! Lyn, I am sooo sorry to read about your daughter. Martha, Harold a fractured hip, did you find how this happened?? Judy, sorry about your scary time, hope it's cleared up and you're doing ok now. Peaches is eating better, yay!!!! Hope she keeps improving so she'll eat everything she should, and not just stuff that concerns Mom and not so good for her. And Ava!!! Great news you've already sold your 5th wheel!! Once you get your decisions made of what to do and then plan how and when , you just move right along!!!! So happy for you !!

Sue, your idea of a caravan gtg this summer in upper Michigan, sounds like a fabulous idea. I bet if you planned dates and a route done in jello  you'd get several. I'd love to be one but I wouldn't want to do too many if any state parks with the fees , in 2013 we did casinos and forest and a private park etc. So many sights to see for sure , think many we visited was your ideas. I want to go west but if dates are right I could make my route across the country to SD as I'd planned last year , but changed my plans totally to take grands for a month, then down into Co. And NM. Planning a big trip this year, hoping it works out. Never know about tomorrows. So do it and set up dates to suit you and post and give us time to make our plans.

Time to get moving here!! Have few more cleaning , organizing things to do in RV. Really thinking of joining the ladies at Hardee for couple days, get away from all this cleaning  Wishing you all a good week end!!

Stay Safe,
CArol.
Morning Martha, just saw you've popped in, rain you're having is coming here all day tomorrow. Book reading time :D

CArol, they did a CT scan and said Harold's hip wasn't broken. Said that the x-ray was just suspicious. The orthopedic doctor thinks it might be his sciatic nerve and put him on steroids. He seemed in a little less pain yesterday. It just doesn't seem right to me that he can't straighten his right leg.

The rain is almost here and it's suppose to rain all day today and tomorrow.

Nothing much going on here. I just went out to trim down my rose bushes. Couldn't find my gloves so now my hands are all cut up from the thorns! I plan to pull out all the rose bushes and replace them with something else this spring. Only 2 of them produced any roses so those two I might move somewhere else or give them to someone. The rest go in the trash.

It is cloudy today. Supposed to get some rain on Monday which would be nice!

No new animals noises under the house last night so that is good. Got ants in the house again tho. There must be a big nest of those under the house. I think the little ant bait traps are not enough to get rid of them all. May have to get a plan B.

Glad to hear Peaches is improving quickly! Yay Peaches!

Off to work later on. Have been making really good tips lately. $5 and $10 tips from most of my customers so they must like what I am doing! Next week we are having a haircut sale. Tips usually are not good during those because they attract people who don't get haircuts very often and don't have much extra money to spare (or are just cheap!).

Have a good day!

After picking up a rental car yesterday, I went to laundromat and did five loads of laundry, including my lighter weight comforter. Then, since my bite or whatever it was was getting larger and redder and bothering me more, I decided to stop at an urgent care place. I knew it was getting late afternoon, but having the car made the difference. Luckily the waiting room was almost empty, and I put on a mask telling them I had a weak immune system. (I am terrified of getting the flu for various reasons, including my lousy immune system.) I have been washing my hands constantly, especially when I am out handling door knobs and stuff.

Doctor thinks it was really a spider bite, but the main problem is that the skin is infected, aka cellulitis. The skin on the 2" diameter red spot was breaking down and my ankle was swollen below and above the red blotch. Anyway, he gave me two different antibiotics and some prednisone. I told him about my bad reactions to mosquito bites last winter in Florida and how it helped me then. (Remember, big, red and stinging mosquito bites, and two urgent care trips last winter is why I am planning to spend the next couple of winters in the southwest.) So, why am I getting bit by things here???? :? My only hope is that whatever bit me is outdoors and not indoors with me! Still sore, but not getting any redder at least and hopefully I will see better results tomorrow.

Went out to the Hoop Dancing Competition at the Heard Museum today, then took the down comforter I had taken off my bed to the laundromat. Got it done, but all that on my feet has made my ankle with the bite on it swell. So tomorrow, I am going to stay home mostly.

Not a good week for a lot of us, except Peaches, of course.

Aww, Judy, so sorry. But this week sure is ending much better for Peaches. You are right there.

I didn't post earlier today because I'm bored. I find it interesting that when I'm out boondocking... No power, don't turn on the tv, I haven't gotten bored. Even doing nothing. Even the last two nights in casino lots. But sitting in a park, tv going, actually a couple interesting shows, but overall bored. I'm not sure why or what the answer is. I've tried to avoid folks when walking Peaches... Haven't felt sociable either. Plus I have a bunch I could have done, but other than fixing a meal in my pressure cooker, did pretty much nothing. Bad me. I feel like I'm fighting a cold, so maybe that's it. I'm already looking towards my next week off! But first have to get through this week working and hopefully a good vet appt Monday after work.

Got a little bit of ambition this morning and went outside to clean up the rose bushes and then moved on to the back yard to clean up a bunch of old dead vines and plants that the previous owner had in large pots that were old and breaking apart. Got all that cut up and put in a pile to get hauled away. Looks much better back there now. There is a small broken plastic tool shed that will be getting removed soon as well.

Tonight at work, someone came in the back door and grabbed a coworkers wallet, phone and keys and ran back out. I always lock the back door and keep telling the girls to do the same. There is a small group of bad kids that hang around that area so I have been worried about something like that happening. My purse was right next to hers so I am lucky mine wasn't taken.
Then one of the girls was out back smoking a cigarette when some guy came up to her and started harassing her. She ran back inside quickly. One of our customers walked her back out to her car when she was off work.
I bought one of those flash lights with the stun gun built in, and will be carrying that with me at work from now on. The gal who was robbed usually walks home about a half mile away so I told her I would drive her home tonight.

Beth, I am going to post something in the General area, so give me 15 minutes and take a look. It was something I thought of last night.
