All Quiet on This Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

All Quiet on This Saturday

...or so it would seen. I rather like to think that many are out finding their own adventures and don't have time to muse about it.

The news keeps telling me that BJ's Carbondale is the place to be. I think we may have missed out opportunity to be their with her.

Have a good day out there!

Four more days here for me. Thursday is my D-day (departure day). Took ds to hairdresser for a haircut this morning. Drugstore run this afternoon, I think. Her walking is improving. I hope to get her in her van this weekend and try a spin around the block. We'll see. I'm making up some meals for her and bil to put in the freezer to make things easier when I'm gone. New aide for afternoon will start Monday and be here 3 hours to handle afternoon transfer of bil via hoyer lift. Two days still need to be covered for that 2-5 p.m. time period.

I got an Email that my new Roadtrek is ready to go with added solar, etc., so I will make a fast (for me) trip to Florida, overnighting at Walmart and Crackerbarrels near I-81 going south.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning nothing going on in my world except yard work and other various chores. Will have to get on the roof and repair a shingle, thinking maybe today. Also need to finish sorting stuff in the shed for pitching as opposed to keeping for yard sell that will happen some years down the road. Can't imagine why anyone would keep buckets of nuts, bolts and screws. Lol, guess between my dad and my uncle (rip) lots of junk out there. I'd
rather do yard work!
Alright, y'all have a good day, be safe.

Yay, Liz, 4 days and your new RT is ready. Exciting!

Nothing exciting here... Had my mammogram and bone density tests two days ago. Will make an appt to see my doctor now for my annual physical.

Have a headache that doesn't want to go away. About to walk Peaches. Sometimes being out in fresh air helps.... Hoping that to be the case today... Otherwise might be a good day to spend extra time in bed.

Yes, this is THE place to be but,I don't know if this is the calm before the storm or what, but so far traffic isn't that bad. Either no one is coming to the party or they are waiting for Sunday to descend. I think if they wait that long though they will end up watching the event from the middle of a huge traffic jam on 57 or 24!! I am one of the odd ones who doesn't really want to watch. I really don't want to take the chance of damaging my eyes. Maybe I've read to many articles on fake glasses and how even if you do use them, there could still be problems. I will however watch the shadows on the ground.

Ava be careful on that roof! Hang in Liz, hope the next few days go fast. Hope you can get rid of that headache Beth.

Metal fittings, especially brass, and pipes and such can bring in some money when sold at a recycling company. Don't throw it out.

I really have no need to look at the sun but I think it would be neat to watch the changes in everything else. And I haven't figured out the warnings about pets. I have never reminded mine not to look directly at the sun before and they haven't had any problems? :) ?????

All quiet here too this morning. Just doing a little housework but not sure what to do with the rest of my day. I dont need to go shopping for groceries so guess I will just hang out with some Netflix.

Had a very good time at the Eagle Lake GTG it was very quiet and relaxing. I love being in the trees and by water. I could not believe how big the spaces were. I could have put 4 RV's between me and the next sites.

Going camping again to Eastern Oregon in October so getting excited for that 2 weeks of exploring an area I have not been to.

All is quiet here. Can't see pain specialist until September 20 unless they get a cancellation, so doing what we can. Chemo going ok, no side effects besides some indigestion. Mel is going to do a pinhole device for Monday. Also last eclipse showed well through trees onto house side. I did a real good stroganoff in my Instant Pot yesterday, details in a recipe post.
Have a good weekend all. Those on Facebook, there is a cute picture of my son and granddaughter in a 5 k race this morning.

Good morning!
Finally I made it before the morning was done.

Closed on the condo last Wed - replacing the carpet in the living room, entry & hallway before I move in with one of the new vinyl plank floors (looks like laminate, but has wood-like texture & is water-proof). It's look pretty natural & is easy to care for which is what I was going for. Just waiting for the estimates to come in. Might put it in the bedrooms at a later date, but want to make sure I like it first. Also getting some work done on the tile around the tub before I move in. I'll save easier projects for myself later on.

Saw a very sweet bird over there - small with a long, long tale. It let us get pretty close before it flew away - can't wait to see it again. Once I'm settled, I hope to get a picture of it so one of you can identify it.

Unfortunately the travelin' van will have to go to storage when I leave here. Found a great place for it - family-run & very secure. Hope to have more chances to use it once Olivia starts preschool & I'm settled in the new place. Sounds like Eagle Lake might be a good place.

Liz, a new RT - wow! very exciting - hope everything goes as planned & you're back on the road soon. Beth, hope that headache goes away. Veldo, can't imaging waiting a month to see a pain specialist - that's crazy! Sending prayers for you & Mel - hoping for a cancellation & continued minimal side effects from chemo.

Well, I'd better get busy. Be careful if you watch the eclipse - for me, I'll see it on TV. :)

Yes, it is quiet at Eagle Lake. Judy left this morning. I will leave tomorrow morning. I am going to a PA park in Winnenucca. Need the air as it is hot there.

This is a very nice park....highly recommend it for future GTG.

Sheila, would you send me your phone number? I will be on my way to your place, wherever you are. I am traveling quite slowly, so, am not sure when I will arrive. (I do not drive as fast as Sandi)

BJ - they're all here in Champaign. Hotels are booked solid with people who couldn't get a reservation downstate, I'm guessing they'll all roll your way Monday morning.

Some interesting changes in the wind for Mary and I, I've mentioned that she's retiring and we're moving back to Florida in October... well we're going to consider it a temp move to relax a bit after the retirement, and then consider putting the condo on the market. We'll rent climate controlled storage here in IL and leave about half our stuff here (easier than moving it and less cluttered to stage for a sale).

Our bottom line is cost and healthcare, we are still paying a monthly special assessment from when the sea wall failed two years ago, with another year on that. And now they are hitting us up for another $2000 to rebuild the reserves from losses due to the hurricane last fall. Add to that a couple of health issues recently and it really brings to the forefront that our healthcare (HMO) is in Illinois, it won't be sustainable long term unless we go back to work in order to afford the more expensive portable plan (almost double).

Interesting you bring that up Tina. Dr Jen on GMA laughed at that question and said babies and animals would not have any idea what's going on, so wouldnt look at it anyway. That said, "they" are expecting animals to do some flaky things tho.

Still sitting at Veterans Memorial county park in WI.
Didn't matter how many phone calls I made last week, or the promise to overnight the parts for the slide on Thursday, the factory didn't ship them until noon on Friday. Hopefully early Monday arrival, but I won't hold my breath. The delay does blow my plan to get to Land O Lakes to visit a friend, so I'll be heading back to IL due to appointments.

Yea Liz! Just drive safe. Martha & Velda I am thinking of you often. I cant seem to get excited about the eclipse. Maybe just slide problems on the brain. Guess this is just part of full timing, well that & laundry & housework that was done today.

Can't remember what else I've been reading, but I am keeping up with you ladies.

Be safe wherever you are.

Ava, I have a couple of jars and old coffee cans with nuts, bolts and screws. When you are 10 miles from town sometimes we can find some thing that will work and not have to make a trip to town. The last time I had to buy some big bolts at tractor supply I was careful the write down the size and number of what I was picking out. When I got to the register they just weighted them and charged me by the weight. Never saw that before. Be careful getting on the roof.

I can't believe so many people are going so nuts over the Eclipse. I'm pretty sure we will be able to watch it on TV. lol I am good with the site Beth posed on Facebook where you can put in your zip code and see what your area will see.

Queen, it's sad that now most of our decisions are based on healthcare. We have a friend that was in France recently and got food poisoning. He was in a hospital for a day and a half and his bill was $1,080.00 dollars. No telling what that would cost in the US. He said that his deductible is so high on his health insurance that it would be cheaper to fly to France for health care.

I have been going to the nursing home at lunch and supper time to help Harold eat. The place is clean and he's always clean but the food is mostly pitiful. I don't know what they get for breakfast and the lunches are not too bad. It's the suppers that are the pits. Last night he had a hot dog bun with boiled shrimp, a pack of mayonnaise, a pack of ketchup, a few fried potatoes, a small bowl of cold mixed vegetables and a small bowl of jello. And when I say small bowl, I mean really small. I have seen some family members bring in food so I'm going to start bringing him something extra for supper. He likes chocolate a lot so I keep chocolate cookies in my purse. He doesn't really know where he is and still wants to go home. He considers home to be his mother old house that was torn down after Hurricane Rita. He wasn't happy at our house either.

My younger son and his girlfriend are looking at a house that has an area that is described as a mother-in-law suite. I don't know what plans they have for me but I plan to be camping. lol

Martha, you are so right about healthcare, I have friends who fly to Mexico for medical and dental care, they take a long vacation and it's still cheaper than their deductibles here.

That stinks about the food at the nursing home. Same when my mom was in, so I'd bring her favorites for her a few times a week so she had something to look forward to. And a friend of mine kept her well stocked in homemade chocolate chip cookies.
