Back Home Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Back Home Monday

Postby Colliemom » Mon Dec 29, 2014 8:21 am

Morning everyone,

Molly and I arrived home mid afternoon yesterday . Uneventful trip but some beautiful scenery in some areas with snow decked trees and all. Just ran into some lake effect snow in one place where I thought there would be. No big deal. Drove out of it once we turned south. All's well here. No more snow since I left and more bare ground than anything. Just enough snow to turn it white. Not even measurable. Molly is missing her snow filled U.P. playground already. Passed lots of snowmobilers hauling their sleds north to find snow on the way home too.

Will head to town this morning, bank and store. Otherwise nothing on agenda except to finish unpacking a few things I didn't do yesterday . Was too tired.

Caught up on my Christmas cards that came while I was gone. My best friend said something in her Christmas letter that I thought I would share with you especially those of you or family members having health issues or other problems. God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain. But He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

With those thoughts in mind, have a nice day everyone :)

G'morning Sue & all to follow :)

Such a nice thought to share, Sue! Glad you're home safely, & I'm sure Molly will get over the lack of snow--just like she got "used to it," puppies don't seem to care where they are when it comes to playing  BJ, dentist today?

Yep, I had a day without Anita, but she was up & feeling much better yesterday :P We had a great visit with Kerry & her son, sitting in the sun, with only occasional cool/cold winds. Crikey, so much for the warm SW--at least so far. And now we're facing a storm system which will bring rain & cooler temps to all the SW. So Anita & I decided it's time to go. She'll head back to her park where she has electricity for keeping warm, & I'll ride out the storm in Mesa where I can boondock at the casino & at least have pavement under me. Ava, you're still on vacation? Maybe gtg while I'm there? Will also try to catch up with friends in my old neighborhood.

Despite cool temps & wind (which prompted me to get my winter clothes back out  ), it's been a great time here. I'm thinking Anita really got sick from all the talking we did! Have taken many many nice walks in the desert with the poopers, & still eating goodies that Catherine sent with me--yep, which is why I need the extra walks too

Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Good morning all!
Sue, that was comforting to hear those promises of God that you passed along this morning. Thanks for that.

I spent last evening going over my atlas and looking, researching and checking out the northern part of Michigan thinking that maybe that would be a good place for DH and I to explore this summer when we take our trip. We have never been up that way and according to my atlas, there are so many "dotted green roads" signifying that they are scenic. how could it not be beautiful..! Is it easy to cross that bridge, I think the Mackinaw, into the UP? I think I read that it is 5 miles long. I could be wrong. Anyway I am going to look it up in the National Geographic Scenic Highways and Byways book I bought myself for Christmas.

Another possibility we were thinking of was doing the Natchez Trace Highway. Wanted to have alternatives because going out West needs more time. Living in Pennsylvania needs a couple of days travel just to get out of here to somewhere where the scenery changes!!

Anyway, its fun to plan but I need to get the day started and go get some spinach...making Spanakopeta today.. (Greek spinach with filo) .
Be safe, Karen

Good morning, all. Still cold here in So. Calif. (relatively speaking - it's cold for us!). Barely above freezing at night and many of my neighbors have covered their bushes with blankets. Mine always get a bit of frostbite, but come back up from the roots in spring, so I don't bother to cover them. Welcome home Sue and Molly. Hope you find a nice, level spot at the casino, carolb. Karen - both of your choices are really great ones. No problem with the bridge or any of the secondary roads either, for that matter. We traveled all over the UP and it was one of the best trips we ever took. Natchez Trace a good choice, too. As are hundreds of others! Take your time and enjoy each and every one. When we first start traveling we tend to want to see it all in a hurry and there's so many choices that we are overwhelmed. Life is a journey - enjoy the ride.

Good Morning,

Carolb and I have been so spoiled by our previous times here that this weather is a shocker! Yes, a great visit with Kerry and her son - what a nice young man. So looking forward to the GTG next month! Sorry to have missed Sheila and Patty this time.

Sue, lovely words. My favorite has always been 'God won't give you anything you and He can't handle'. Glad you and Molly are home safe.

Karen, Evie is right, no problems on the bridge. I'm planning to visit LeRoy in Wisconsin this summer so we can explore the UP further and I still want to ride a bike around Mackinaw Island. I'm wanting to get back to the mountains in the east to ride the Slingshot instead of the truck! I've had that dream for several years and never thought it would happen.

Have a wonderful day everyone and safe travels!

Good morning Gals!

I have been away from the forum since before Christmas (I think) so I will wish you all a Happy New Year instead! I've been spending time here today just catching up with what's been going on. Sorry to hear of Barbie's and Lyn's troubles but glad to hear of others enjoying the holidays.

I finally had a Christmas that was nice; we spent the day with my DH's family-MIL, SIL, BIL and 2 nieces and one niece's fiance. What a nice time we had over dinner and got to kidding with niece and her soon to be DH! My SIL can sure cook!

Left on Friday to head to Carrie's to take care of her pups and kitties as she was going away on a weekend with her boyfriend. Only problem was I had to run back home on Saturday early to have Christmas with my own son and his girlfriend--only day they could make it to our house as girlfriend works for 911 and has to work most holidays (she's the lowest on the totem pole). We had a nice time visiting with them and on their way out the door son dropped a bombshell on us--apparently they have gotten engaged! Not sure if he was serious or not but I hope so; she seems to have such a calming influence on his attitude and fits right in with us. Then it was back to Carrie's house to spend the night with her critters.

My one cousin I still talk to sent me a message on FB about my Uncle passing away, that his wake was yesterday. Being out of town and not using Carrie's computer all weekend I never got the message til this morning. I appreciated her trying to let me know but not one other family member called to inform me of his passing. Guess I know where I rate now.

Well, that's about all from here. Heading out in a while to walk a dog and have a petsit coming up starting on Tuesday with 2 horses and a wonderful pitbull that I adore. Will be busy this next month but planning a girls weekend with Carrie on Jan. 10/11. Love my getaways!

Take care gals, be safe and have fun,
Kathy
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

It is way past morning but I dashed out to a dentist early as I was finally able to find one actually in their office. My dentist and many others I called have been out since before Christmas and won't be back until next Monday. The place I went wasn't one I would ever go back to, but at least he did ex-ray the area and check my mouth. Only thing he could guess was it was a neurological issue as all looked normal in my mouth and on the ex-ray. So I called the wonderful acupuncture Doctor and went to see her this afternoon. She said as long as there was no infection that the acupuncture should help the problem. So far it feels a lot better, and I had a good nap on the table. :)
My cousins are coming over this evening, we're going out for pizza and then we are playing Mexican Train dominoes. I love that game and we always have fun as no one is really a serious, have to win, player.
Karen, wish I were coming to your house for Spanakopeta, I love it! Good to see you Kathy, we've missed you. We had a nice Christmas too, maybe it is a sign of good times ahead! Sorry the desert is so cold, and Anita and Carolb had to regroup. Sue that puppy just couldn't be cuter!
Guess I better feed the dogs and get ready for the big game. Have a good evening all.
