Slow cooker Mac and cheese

Postby Shirlv » Sun Feb 21, 2021 1:45 pm

I have. 3qt, cooker too so cutting recipe in half. Will freeze portions if any leftovers.
Haven’t tried it yet.

Update- slow cooker on. :) Will let you know how it tastes. Never posting here again until I try the recipe. Decided I would make whole recipe in my 6 qt cooker. Reviews said to stir often so am stirring every 30 minutes.

I stirred every 30 minutes. I should have tried the pasta after an hour. It is slightly over cooked at 1 3/4 hr. I spooned some over steamed broccoli broccoli, a tasty dinner.
I have added more milk. Will refrigerate and divided tomorrow. Will make again

The crockpot mac & cheese sounds good, Shirl, and I'm glad you liked it. Homemade mac & cheese is a staple in our house because Steve likes it to come out of the oven crusty & brown on top. But this recipe is definitely the next best thing. Have you tried the crockpot bags? I've used them for many years and swear by them. Clean up is so much easier. Thanks for sharing!

Irmi, I use the bags too. It has become difficult to maneuver the 6 qt crockpot to wash so the bags are great. I buy from Amazon 25 in a pack.

Do any of you put crushed croutons/dried bread crumbs on top of your mac & cheese?
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
