You wouldn't recognize good food if it was shoved down your throat!

Gotta try this, I had some Italian sausage on the grill tonite and it was so dang salty I almost couldn't eat it. Unlike you, Mitch, I eat very little salt, just never got the taste for it. Made my year when I found Lays light salt potato chips. I love chips but hated the saltiness. 'Course now I eat way more chips which sure isn't good for the hips! :(

This sounds so good and I love Italian sausage but hate how salty it tastes, so got the stuff to make it at Walmart today....except forgot the fennel seeds. Dang! Knew I should have taken a peek at the recipe before I left.Anyone know of a substitute for fennel seeds? I thought I had every spice known to man, but not that one!

And fennel is the most distinct flavor!

According to the article
http://www.ehow.com/facts_7404759_can-substitute-fennel_.html
you can use ANISE SEED as a substitute, just use about half as much.
Let us know how it turns out.

I know, I know, I'm such an idgit sometimes!! Guess it's back to the store tomorrow, have to be out and about anyway. I'm thinking of making pattys out of it and throwing them on the grill...a little mac and cheese and some steamed broccoli...

Finally got my chit together and got all of the ingredients for this....it was excellent! Used fresh garlic and grated onion instead of the powders, added just a touch more fennel, didn't use any salt but wish I had put just a bit in it and it came out great! Thanks, Mitch, for the recipe. I never even thought about making my own.

Now if you could just make a Jewish Apple Cake....

Want me to find the homemade breakfast sausage recipe?
It's really good, too.

So, I finally got a meat grinder/sausage stuffer and made my own sausage...
I just used el cheapo ground beef for this first time in case I screwed it up, I wouldn't feel so bad
(cutting up that whole pork loin was a PITA and I would have hated wasting it!).

Next stop, Low-Sodium Italian sausage...and then on to perfecting the Blue Marlin Paradise Burger.
If that burger turns out as good as the ones I made when I ground my first batch of beef last week, any of you who come to visit the Blue Marlin in the future will find that single sandwich worth the trip out of your way! :D

So one single sandwich is all you're gonna feed anybody? Man, good thing I bring my own food! :P
